About Us

We provide marginalized communities with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to break free from the chains of poverty.

For over a decade, we have worked with various communities, and now that we are officially registered as an NPO, we are more committed than ever to making a lasting difference.

We are based in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, but driven by a deep committement to help others, we respond to needs wherever we are called.

What is Alabaster

The Alabaster Foundation takes its inspiration from a poignant biblical parable that resonates deeply with the essence of selfless giving.

In this story, a woman brings an alabaster jar filled with precious perfume and pours it over the feet of Jesus, offering her most cherished possession as a profound act of love, devotion, and service.

This beautiful moment, recounted in all four Gospels, carries a universal message: the power of generosity, compassion, and sacrifice.

Guided by these values, the Alabaster Foundation seeks to embody the spirit of the alabaster jar. Through acts of love, justice, hospitality, and empathy, we aim to bring hope and restoration to those in need, ensuring every individual feels seen, valued, and supported.

Our Story

For years, we have provided assistance to individuals and groups, but we are shifting our focus to long-term empowerment.

Rather than just addressing immediate needs, we are adopting a different approach. You may have heard the proverb, "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime." This captures the heart of our mission at the Alabaster Foundation—to empower people with the tools, resources, and skills they need to break free from the chains of poverty.

The foundation is faith-based, and our vision reflects this: to restore dignity and empower marginalized individuals and communities by fostering self-reliance, promoting education, and creating sustainable pathways out of poverty. We aim to create an environment where people not only receive help but also gain the ability to help themselves.

At the core of our work are the principles of forgiveness, love, and justice. The pink in our logo symbolizes the woman who poured her alabaster jar, reminding us of the importance of service to others and the impact of small, yet powerful acts of kindness. We believe that every act of hospitality and love we extend to our neighbors can change lives, both spiritually and materially.

I truly believe that we all have a moral obligation to look after one another. Some might say it’s unrealistic to try and change the world, but my response is always the same: “Who would I be if I didn’t even try?”

And that’s the heart of the Alabaster Foundation—we are here to try, to give, and to serve with love.
